Mar. 13th, 2017 02:45 amSo, what happened? It's been four years.
To recap: Dominic died. Woody had a stroke, and went into a nursing home. I moved into a one bedroom apartment, giving up half my furniture. Charlie, my dachshund died. Peanut, my other dachshund, had to be putdown. And, then there's the whole Woody thing...
- Woody had a stroke.
- I took him to the ER. They did very little, and I took him home after 13 hours of waiting.
- A few days later, Woody became confused and drove off, intending to go to Florida. He ran out of gas along the side of the road, and was found wandering the streets of a small town in North Carolina the next day.
- Woody ended up going into an assisted-living home, until his money ran out, and he had to transfer to a nursing home with a Medicaid bed.
- A nurse gave Woody and seven other residents an overdose of morphine syrup. He recovered.
- After a year, they caught the nurse who poisoned Woody.
- Woody ran and fell. I believe he suffered a pontine hemorrhage.
- Woody managed to get out of his chair, and fell again. I believe he suffered another pontine hemorrhage.
- Woody stopped breathing and had to be put on oxygen for a time.
- The nursing home closed.
- Woody was transferred to another nursing home an hour away.
- Woody grew worse, and stopped eating.
- I let him go and he died.
- The nurse went on trial, and was let off with time served (One year). She poisoned eight. One died directly. One died a month later.
- I scattered Woody's ashes in a plot of wild grasses in Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountain National Park.
- I scattered Dominic's ashes in a bed of ferns near a small creek near Cades Cove.
